Case note 04 / 13 · Automotive lubricants
Swapped promo creatives for an education engine mechanics trust.
Brand education · Trust building
01 — Overview
The feed was a loop of promotional creatives aimed at everyone and convincing no one. In lubricants the recommendation usually comes from a mechanic or a retailer, and neither is persuaded by a discount graphic.
The feed was repeat sales promotions. We rebuilt it around the questions mechanics and automotive buyers actually ask — product use, maintenance, failure modes — so the brand earns trust before it asks for the sale.
"Answer the question. Then sell."
The scope
02 — Highlights
01
Mechanics and retailers were treated as the primary audience, because they decide what ends up in the engine.
02
Pillars were built from what people actually ask about grades, intervals, mixing and engine wear.
03
Myth-versus-fact and side-by-side comparisons gave the brand a way to be useful weekly without inventing a new idea each time.
04
Product discovery sits at the end of an answer, so the ask arrives after the brand has been useful.
What it does now
An education engine instead of a promotion loop — the brand becomes a source of automotive knowledge, and product discovery follows the trust rather than trying to buy it.
